Sennheiser has introduced the MOMENTUM True Wireless 5, its latest flagship true wireless earbuds. The fifth-generation model brings a redesigned fit and charging case, Bluetooth 6.0, Dolby Atmos spatial audio with head tracking, upgraded noise cancellation, and user-replaceable batteries.
The MOMENTUM True Wireless 5 are available to preorder for $299.95 USD or $449.95 CAD, with shipping scheduled to begin on September 3, 2026.
Sennheiser’s 7mm TrueResponse Driver Returns
At the centre of the MOMENTUM True Wireless 5 is Sennheiser’s 7mm TrueResponse dynamic driver. Developed and tested at the company’s facility in Tullamore, Ireland, the driver has a stated frequency response of 5Hz to 21kHz.
The earbuds support SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX Adaptive and aptX Lossless. When paired with a compatible Snapdragon Sound device, they can transmit audio at resolutions of up to 24-bit/96kHz.
Bluetooth 6.0 connectivity is accompanied by multipoint pairing, Google Fast Pair and Microsoft Swift Pair. Sennheiser has also added a selectable “robust mode” intended to improve connection stability in congested wireless environments, along with a low-latency option for gaming.
Dolby Atmos with Head Tracking
The MOMENTUM True Wireless 5 introduces Dolby Atmos spatial audio with interactive head tracking. The feature adjusts the presentation as the listener moves their head, helping the soundstage remain anchored to the screen or listening position.
Although optimized for Dolby Atmos content, Sennheiser says the head-tracking system can also be used with other audio sources.
Revised ANC and Call Performance
Sennheiser has updated its hybrid adaptive active noise cancellation system and added automatic wind-noise suppression. Redesigned silicone ear tips are intended to improve passive isolation, while the real-time Transparency mode has also been revised for a more natural presentation of the surrounding environment.
Across the two earbuds, the call system combines six conventional microphones with two bone-conduction voice accelerometers. An AI-assisted speech extraction algorithm uses this array to separate the wearer’s voice from conversations and environmental noise in the background.
User-Replaceable Earbud and Case Batteries
One of the most significant additions is a user-replaceable battery system. The batteries inside both earbuds and the charging case can be replaced at home using standard tools, potentially extending the usable lifespan of the product beyond the degradation of its original batteries. A battery replacement tool is included in the box.
Battery life is rated at up to 12 hours per charge with ANC disabled or approximately six hours with ANC active. The Qi-compatible charging case extends total playback time to as much as 40 hours.
Both USB-C and wireless charging are supported. An eight-minute quick charge provides approximately one additional hour of playback, while a complete charge takes around 90 minutes.
Redesigned Earbuds and Charging Case
The earbuds feature a new finless housing designed using data gathered from thousands of ear models. According to Sennheiser, 73% of testers found the redesigned shape more comfortable than the previous generation.
Each earbud weighs approximately 7g and carries an IP54 rating for resistance against dust, sweat and splashes. Four sizes of silicone ear tips—XS, S, M and L—are included.
The charging case has also been redesigned with a slimmer, more pocket-friendly shape. The complete package weighs approximately 62g, including the earbuds and case.
Expanded Sound Personalization
The MOMENTUM True Wireless 5 work with Sennheiser’s Smart Control Plus app for Android and iOS. The app includes a new eight-band equalizer, configurable sound modes and an interactive Sound Personalization system developed with algorithms from the Fraunhofer Institute.
Users can also manage ANC, Transparency mode, connection behaviour and other earbud settings through the app.

The Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 5 are offered in five colours: Graphite, Cream, Copper, Denim and Lavender.
Preorders are open now through Sennheiser and participating retailers. The earbuds are priced at $299.95 USD and $449.95 CAD, with shipments expected to begin on September 3, 2026.
