iFi announced an upgrade to the GO link, one of the absolute best dongle DACs on the market, called the GO link Max. It adds more output power than the original GO link and a 4.4mm balanced connection. Here is a quick comparison between the two:
The GO link Max loses MQA decoding functionality, which isn’t really a loss given how unavailable MQA content is, and sports a slightly bigger frame to help house the addition of the 4.4mm balanced connection. Dimensions of both are below:
GO link: 135 x 12.6 x 7.6 mm (5.3″ x 0.5″ x 0.3”)
GO link Max: 150x15x10mm (5.9 x 0.59 x 0.39”)
The GO link Max is also slightly heavier at 14.5 grams vs 11 grams for the GO link.
Internally the GO link Max now has a dual DAC setup to help eliminate jitter and deliver precise, clear audio. It also has THD compensation for purer, less distorted audio.
The iFi GO link Max is priced at $79 USD, which is $20 more than the original GO link.
Personally, I’m fine with that, given the addition of the 4.4mm balanced output, as well as the increased power output of the 3.5mm connection. The GO link Max looks like it will be a worthy successor to the GO link, and I’ll have a review for you soon here at HiFi Oasis.
