DALI IO-8 – My Go-To HiFi ANC Headphones

The DALI IO-8 quickly became my default over-ear when I wanted excellent sound without compromising convenience. Unlike many ANC headphones that prioritize noise canceling at the expense of tuning, the IO-8 delivers a sound signature that feels unmistakably hi-fi — spacious, balanced, and refined. It also delivers on the ANC front with great ANC performance.
My experience:
What impressed me most was how effortless the IO-8 feels in daily use. Whether I was working at my desk, traveling, or just listening casually in the evening on the couch, it never felt like a compromise. The bass is tight and controlled, the midrange is natural, and the treble has clarity without harshness. The responsive physical controls are also a breath of fresh air compared to the laggy touch controls on other headphones, and the no-app-required approach means I can just put them on and enjoy the music. The Caramel White colorway looks absolutely stunning, too. Classy and professional. Overall, I often forgot I was listening to a wireless ANC headphone, and that’s the highest compliment I can give.

iFi iDSD Valkyrie – The Portable DAC/Amp I Wish I Still Had

The iFi iDSD Valkyrie embodies what iFi does best: flexibility, power, and musicality in a transportable form factor. It’s one of those devices that adapts to any headphone or IEM you throw at it, and doesn’t skimp on the connectivity options.
My experience:
I was skeptical about a $1,699 portable DAC/Amp, but the Valkyrie has genuinely changed how I think about transportable audio. The detail retrieval is exceptional—I’m hearing nuances in familiar recordings that I’ve never noticed before. The build quality is tank-like, and the Nordic wooden box it comes in adds to the premium experience. Pairing it with my Simgot SuperMix 4 IEMs via the FiiO DM13 CD player using an optical connection was my go-to critical listening setup when I had the unit for review. This is simply the best-sounding DAC/Amp iFi has ever made.

MEZE 105 AER – A Beautifully Musical Open-Back

The 105 AER continues Meze’s tradition of blending comfort, design, and musical tuning. It’s not just about analytical listening, it’s about enjoyment.
My experience:
I usually listen to the 105 AER during longer sessions when I want to relax rather than analyze. The sound is warm, engaging, and fatigue-free, and the comfort is excellent. It’s a headphone that invites you to listen longer, not louder.

SteelSeries Arctis Nova Elite – Still My Favorite Gaming Headset

The Nova Elite remains my benchmark for premium gaming headsets. It balances competitive performance with genuinely good audio quality and fantastic features.
My experience:
What keeps me coming back is how versatile the Elite is. It’s great for gaming, obviously, but it’s also perfectly usable for music and media. The wireless performance is rock-solid, the mic is excellent, and the comfort makes long sessions easy. The pretty good ANC performance and the inclusion of the LC3 codec for Bluetooth are what make it so versatile, though, allowing me to use the Elite both at my desk and on the go with minimal compromise. SteelSeries gave me a product I didn’t even know I needed.

Sennheiser HDB 630 – A Closed-Back Gem

Sennheiser’s HDB 630 is specifically designed for audiophiles who want wireless convenience without sacrificing sound quality, which is why they also include the excellent BTD 700 Bluetooth dongle, just in case your source device doesn’t support aptX Adaptive.
My experience:
Finally, someone made a Bluetooth ANC headphone for audiophiles. The HDB 630’s neutral yet detailed sound signature is exactly what I’ve been looking for in a wireless headphone. The midrange is smooth and natural, with vocals sounding absolutely stunning. I particularly love the Crossfeed feature that blends bass response for a more immersive experience. The parametric EQ is incredibly powerful, though honestly, I rarely feel the need to use it because the default tuning is so good. The 60-hour battery life means I go weeks between charges. These have become my perfect gateway headphones for serious music listening on the go.

FiiO M21 – The DAP That Just Makes Sense

The M21 nails the balance between performance, usability, and price. It punches well above its weight with a quad CS43198 DAC setup, Snapdragon 680 processor, 4GB RAM, Android 13, and Desktop Mode. The dark blue finish with gold accents is also simply gorgeous.
My experience:
This is a DAP I’d confidently recommend to almost anyone. The UI is smooth, battery life is solid, and the sound is clean and engaging. It doesn’t overcomplicate things, it just delivers a great listening experience. It actually made me stop using my Sony NW-WM1AM2 for a while, a DAP that costs roughly four times as much. If that isn’t high praise, I don’t know what is.

Sivga Nightingale Pro – Craftsmanship Meets Sound

The Nightingale Pro stands out visually and sonically. It has a midrange-forward sound signature that prioritizes vocal clarity and acoustic authenticity over bass quantity.
My experience:
What impressed me most was the balance: detailed without being sharp, musical without losing resolution. It’s an IEM that feels thoughtfully tuned and beautifully made. These are my dedicated IEMs for late-night acoustic and vocal listening sessions.

Shanling EC Zero T / AKM – Portable CD Listening Done Right

Yes, CDs are still relevant, and Shanling proves it. The Shanling EC Zero series brings CD playback into the modern era. Available in two DAC variations: the warmer-sounding tube version that also incorporates an R2R DAC (the black model in the above picture), and the more analytical AKM version (the silver model in the above picture) utilizing the AK4493S DAC. These compact units also function as a USB DAC and Bluetooth transmitter, making them incredibly versatile.
My experience:
I genuinely enjoyed revisiting physical media with these players. The AKM version offers clarity and balance, while the tube version adds a subtle warmth that’s incredibly charming. It’s not nostalgia for nostalgia’s sake, it’s just good sound.

EarFun Air Pro 4+ – Outstanding Everyday TWS

This is proof that you don’t need to spend flagship money for a great true wireless experience.
My experience:
I used these constantly for meetings, commuting, and casual listening. ANC is effective, battery life is excellent, and the sound is punchy and fun without being sloppy. They’re an easy recommendation.

KBEAR Cepheus KB16 – Serious Value IEM

One of the biggest surprises of the year represents the ongoing democratization of high-quality audio, packing impressive technology into a mostly affordable package.
My experience:
I love recommending the Cepheus KB16 to friends who are curious about entering the IEM hobby. At its price point, it delivers a level of detail and soundstage that would have been unthinkable just a few years ago. The tuning is well-balanced and versatile enough to handle different genres without being too specialized. It’s the kind of IEM that reminds you how far audio has come for multi-driver IEMs, and that you do not need to spend $300+ to get great audio.
